Contrax is construction management software for renovation and trades businesses. It is owned and operated by Ramsauer Renovations, based in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
We handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
When you sign up: your company name, email address and password (required), and optionally your name, phone number and business address.
When you use Contrax: the business information you enter — clients, jobs, quotes, estimates, invoices, photos, documents, employee records and financial data. This is your data. We store and process it so the software works.
If you connect your bank: we use Plaid to link your accounts. Your banking credentials are entered with Plaid and are never seen or stored by us. We receive account balances and transaction records.
Automatically: basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type, and records of when features are used, for security and troubleshooting.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent or trade it. We do not use your business data to advertise to you, and we do not share it with other Contrax customers.
Contrax uses AI to read walkthrough videos and photos, draft written content, and help build estimates. To do that, the material you submit is sent to our AI providers — currently Anthropic and Google — and processed to return a result.
We do not use your data to train AI models, and our providers do not train on data submitted through their business APIs. Video uploaded to the public demo on this website is deleted as soon as the estimate is produced.
We use a small number of service providers to run Contrax. They only receive what they need to do their part:
Some of these providers operate outside Canada, which means your information may be stored or processed in another country and could be accessible to that country's authorities under its laws.
Emails about your account and your work — invoices, reminders, notifications — are part of the service. Marketing emails always include an unsubscribe link, and we honour it. We record whether marketing emails are opened and whether links are clicked, so we can tell what's useful.
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. If you close your account, we delete your business data within 90 days, except where we're required to keep records longer — Canadian tax rules, for example, require certain financial records to be kept for six years.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted to the people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise, but if a breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that's wrong, delete your account and its data, send you a copy of your data, or stop sending you marketing. Email cameron@getcontrax.net and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a privacy question, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Contrax is business software and is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and we'll tell you directly if the change is significant.
